Reality Conference is the continuing work that goes on within our youth ministry, known as Upstream. Reality Conference started out as something much simpler than what it has grown to be. It started out merely as a Thanksgiving holiday youth gathering in 2003, but through God’s grace it has grown to become a massive blessing not only to our church and youth group, but also to people from all over the United States and abroad.
In 2007 we decided to make this conference official and that’s when we adopted the name Reality. We felt this was fitting to what was going on within the conference: the truth being presented in a pure and unadulterated way, i.e., presenting reality as it is presented through the word of God.
Over time Reality has become an amazing opportunity to meet new people, build relationships, and learn to serve one another. While this is an amazing thing and is very necessary in growing spiritually and building others up, the purpose of Reality is to profess the transforming nature of the Gospel of Jesus Christ while introducing people to our church and ministry.
What is success?
How do we measure our success, and how do we make sure we are maximizing it? The Bible is not silent on this issue; rather, it gives us the true definitions of success and what we must do, with God’s help, to have it.
As young Christians we often face the dilemma of being involved in too much and feeling like we’re spread thin, or we simply don’t know how to make most of the opportunities God gives us. How can we know what we should focus on, in school, in ministry, in family? How do we know what to let go of in order to be more useful? What priorities should drive us, and how can we make those priorities our own?
With help of Pastor Harry Walls, we will seek the Scriptures to answer these questions and more at Reality 2017: Measuring and Maximizing Your Success.
