Dear friends! We invite you to our worship service.
Revolving in a world that is guided by human ambition, we involuntarily become captives of the idea that everything exists for our sake. But the world was created by God and serves His purposes.
On Sunday, following the pattern of the first Christians, we gather together to worship God, confessing the great depth of our need and devotion to Him. We set aside our day-to-day concerns to focus on Scripture so that in light of what it says we may examine our lives, pray for ourselves and one-another, and share the joy of belonging to God’s family. We strive to be in fellowship with believers and desire that the Day of the Lord would not only initiate but define the rest of the days in the week.
We invite you to come and share in our blessing of the House of the Lord!
A Father (1 John 2:12-16)
Fatherhood is an amazing gift from God to humanity. God did not just create the family as foundation of society, but he created males and females, husbands and wives, fathers and mothers. Both men and women have their unique functions and identity. A month ago we talked about women, about mothers and motherhood, about this particular ministry to God. Today we will look at men and fatherhood. Fatherhood is especially unique in that it is a reflection of God the Father. In revealing himself to humanity, God did not just disclose himself as Creator and Sovereign, but also as Father.
In many passages the Scripture calls God, Father. This comparison does not just help us understand God, but also fatherhood.
Sermon by pastor Alexey Kolomiytsev.
12. I am writing to you, little children, because your sins have been forgiven you for His name’s sake. 13. I am writing to you, fathers, because you know Him who has been from the beginning. I am writing to you, young men, because you have overcome the evil one. I have written to you, children, because you know the Father. 14. I have written to you, fathers, because you know Him who has been from the beginning. I have written to you, young men, because you are strong, and the word of God abides in you, and you have overcome the evil one. 15. Do not love the world nor the things in the world. If anyone loves the world, the love of the Father is not in him. 16. For all that is in the world, the lust of the flesh and the lust of the eyes and the boastful pride of life, is not from the Father, but is from the world. (1 John 2:12-16)
